Pink Diamonds: Extreme Elegance
Colored diamonds are becoming increasingly popular, and pink diamonds are no exception. There is only a limited supply of natural pink diamonds, so expect their prices to continue to climb. Natural pink diamonds already have achieved pricing at close to $400,000 per carat—wow!
Natural pink diamonds have been found in India, South Africa, and Brazil, but recently, most of them are being produced by the Argyle mine in Australia. It is estimated that the Argyle mine’s production of pink diamonds could possibly end within the next ten years.
Pink diamonds, like all other diamonds, are measured at 10.0 on the Mohs scale of hardness. They are extremely durable, and natural pink diamonds are extremely rare. Of the natural colored diamonds, pink is one of the rarest, along with blue, green, orange, and red diamonds.
Colored diamonds are known as fancy diamonds. The color grading for pink diamonds consists of nine categories: faint, very light, light, fancy light, fancy, fancy intense, fancy vivid, fancy dark, and fancy deep. The more intense and rich color natural pink diamonds have will cause their value to increase.
Natural pink diamonds will at times exhibit glimpses of a secondary color. Sometimes brown, orange, or purple can be seen. Of these color combinations, pure pink is the most cherished because it is hardest to find, followed by purplish pink, orange pink, and then brownish pink.
When purchasing pink diamonds, or any other diamonds, carat weight, cut, clarity, and color should all be considered. Pink diamonds are available in many cuts, but round is one of the more widely seen.
Due to their rarity, natural pink diamonds are usually pretty small in size. However, a few eye-poppers have been found. The largest fancy vivid pink diamond in the world, the Steinmetz Pink is 59.60 carats and is flawless internally. It was created after about 20 months of cutting from a pink diamond rough that was just over 100 carats. The Rose of Dubai is a fancy pink diamond that is also internally flawless and weighs just over 25 carats. The Hortensia is a light pink diamond that is just over 20 carats.

Pink diamonds, as well as other colored diamonds, can be lab grown. They are still durable stones, but since they are not natural diamonds, their prices will be lower.
Pink diamonds are extremely elegant, exquisite gemstones. Due to the rarity of the natural pink diamonds, it is possibly not a bad idea to obtain some before the pricing gets higher. These are truly incredible stones that you will want to hand down to future generations of your family. Popular, pretty, posh, pricey, and pink—flaunt your P’s anywhere you want.
